A Day in the SPOTLIGHT with Luly Yang
After much anticipation, the journey of Luly Yang’s famed Monarch Butterfly Dress was presented to 500 astounded guests at A Monarch’s Tale Couture Fashion Show in May. The evening of high style and generous donations raised $28,000 for Seattle Children’s Hospital, the beneficiary of the event. Guests began their evening with a Pre-Show Reception and a museum, which featured eight signature Luly Yang designs – including the original paper Monarch Butterfly Dress she designed before launching her career in fashion.
“Good Design can bring about social and environmental change. Being surrounded by beautiful things evokes positive emotions. This in turn encourages us to live better and be better. My dream is to create a magical place for our guests, ourselves and our community.” – Luly Yang
Once seated, guests were treated to three runway extravaganzas. During the Child Model Fashion Show five patients from Seattle Children’s walked the runway in outfits designed exclusively by Luly Yang. Yang’s clients took their turn on the runway donned in custom Luly Yang attire. Finally, Luly debuted her much anticipated couture collection that featured 70 new, one-of-a-kind creations. The collection tells the fantastical, decade-long journey of the Monarch Butterfly Dress.
From now until October 27th, 2012, 5% of the proceeds from the 2012 Monarch Collection ordered will benefit Seattle Children’s. Luly Yang Couture is located at 1218 Fourth Avenue, Seattle WA. Appointments are encouraged by calling 206-623-8200.
