Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival
The 36th Annual Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival begins on Saturday, June 30th and will run every day until the 4th of July. This year’s festival will be the biggest and best The Center for Wooden Boats has ever held. Come view the boats, build a toy boat, go for a ride on a classic piece of Northwest maritime history, and stick around for the breathtaking fireworks!
This theme for this year’s festival is heritage wooden boats. The ambiance will be that of an old-fashioned, down-home waterfront festival where everything is fun and authentically grassroots American as you can get! The festival will include visiting vessels, free public boat rides on Lake Union, craft & skills demonstrations, beer garden, food vendors, live music, a 24-hour boat building race called Quick and Daring, tons of activities for kids & more!
The Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival is continuously growing over the years and has now become THE destination for Seattle’s 4th of July Fireworks displays. Since the Center for Wooden Boats has partnered with One Reel to provide more music and the Lake Union Park has fully opened, over 35,000 festival attendees are expected throughout the five exciting days!
On the 4th of July, the Center for Wooden Boats is joining hands with One Reel with their 24th annual Family Fourth at Lake Union, presented by Starbucks in Gasworks Park. The goal is to expand the fun all around the lake! Expect to find live bands playing at both parks before fireworks and a history trivia game designed by the Museum of History and Industry along the lakeshore connecting them. There is soft grass to rest on in both parks to gaze in awe at the fireworks. This is an event that is going to please everyone and that you won’t want to miss!
