Willkommen: Oktoberfest in Leavenworth
Willkommen!
This means “Welcome” in German, a phrase you may hear while perusing Leavenworth’s Oktoberfest (the first three weeks of October on Friday and Saturday until the 20th). There may only be one weekend left to celebrate, but judging by the success of the last two weekends it’s worth the short trip up to have a brat and beer.
Oktoberfest has been held, historically, the 16 days leading up to the first Sunday in October; however, here in the States we like to celebrate this wonderful fair of beer and festivities during the month of October. Starting as a Bavarian fair, where better to host Oktoberfest than a quaint Bavarian town in Leavenworth!
Each year, the town comes up with a unique stein that represents that year. Supplies go quickly, so make sure to ask about getting one!
Looking for a show? The parade has traditional dancers, singers, fire-breathers and more. If you want to bring the kids along, the Kinderplatz has bouncy toys and climbing walls.

I do like beer… and brats… sounds like a great time!
